Democrat Racistometer

I can't shake this horrible (and admittedly absurd) suspicion that any Democrat still supporting Cunton must be a racist. The differences are so stark - a crystal clear winner to me, but millions of people appear to feel the reverse. I know a few guilty white liberals who pretend to love their "african american friends" (some of their best friends are, you know), but I know far more white liberals who genuinely do. So my suspicion is based in some kind of collective, projective, homosexual insecurity - therefore totally irrational - therefore ludicrous. But I can't stop feeling it. Back da fuck off of my nikka yo! Dat's a republican's job.

I don't think that's a fair view of Clinton supporters. For that matter, they may not feel that Obama is ready for the job. To paint Clinton supporters as racist really isn't a helpful suggestion. I realize you said it's probably irrational, but you felt it worth sharing. Since you did, don't you think you should now step back and look at it objectively? Painting a whole group in such a way is bad, just like those who paint minority groups with broad stereotypes. It's not fair.

With that said, I think Obama probably has the nomination pretty near locked up. I just hope the Democratic Party can pull together and get it done this year!

it's not a fair view. it's not rational, in fact - it is, as i said, "ludicrous". i thought the gist of the post was that my suspicion says far more about me than about hillary supporters... but you've concluded that i'm "painting" a "whole group" of people in a bad way... so i obviously fucked this post all up. it reads more clearly in my mind, but i guess it doesn't translate. :(

My gay friends here in Portland are all big Hillary supporters, and I just can't fathom it. She is so transparently calculating and political; I feel so strongly that whatever her policies, her politics are exactly the same as Bush's, and I don't want four more years of the same kind of wildly spun selective half-truths emanating from the White House. I don't think they've really taken a look at Barack; they tell me things like, "His policies are complete fluff." I am amazed that they advance the rationale like, "Americans are not going to vote for someone named Barack HUSSEIN Obama!" It's like, so, forget about whether he could be a good president, or even a transformational one. Because some backwater redneck won't vote for him, we shouldn't, either? I mean, honestly, anyone who is concerned about whether he is a "secret muslim" (!!!) IS PROBABLY NOT GOING TO VOTE FOR HILLARY, EITHER so what is the point? And then this bizarre idea that Hillary is better for the gay community. Dear God, how many times now have the Clintons thrown us under the bus? They criticize Obama for declining some interviews and appearances with gay organizations, but you know...WE DON'T NEED another politician coming to shake our hands and make us promises in public only to stay silent when the political chips are down. Obama actually goes out before the general public and talks about LGBT civil rights issues as a matter of course. In redder than red Medford, Oregon, two weeks ago, Obama publicly ridiculed the right for demonizing gay people and spreading fear about "gay marriage" as a distraction from the mess they've made of our country. When does Hillary do that, and where? Who cares if she'll meet with HRC? Gay people don't need a friend, we need an ADVOCATE.

If anything, I was trying to encourage you to fight that feeling. So I guess neither of us was as clear as we might have been!
