Aqui Hablamos Español

Wow, the deeper I get into Spanish, the more I regret not studying it earlier. Bahasa Indonesia was really my 'second' language, and I studied a fair amount of Thai. Compared to those two (and most others) Spanish is practically a distant dialect of English (or the reverse, por supuesto). The two languages are astonishingly similar (I imagine Italian and French as well). The more I learn, the more I realize there is no excuse for any English speaker not to go the extra mile to learn Spanish (and a few more for French/Italian). Thousands of English words are easily recognizable in Spanish. It's really shocking how similar they are, and I'm embarrassed I'm not already fluent in Spanish (and French).

Spanish is related to French, Italian and Portuguese and Romanian being Latin / Romance langue rooted. English is 60 % rooted with Anglo Germanic language and 40% rooted in Latin / Romance language. This comes from England and Saxony having continually occupied Romance speaking France for centuries. I've studied French German and a bit of Spanish. They all share many dialectal similarities

Looking at this from the opposite angle, I'll tell you that most of the French are already fluent in English, though their language is considerably more beautiful. Ah, those Spanish-speakers, though, particularly when they immigrate to a mostly English-speaking country: Why are THEY not embarrassed not to become fluent in English, hmm?! Grrr...
