Personal Heroine

Remember what I said below about Angelina Jolie? All that times ten goes for Tammy Faye. After living and working with Mother Teresa I can say that Tammy Faye is as close to sainthood as Teresa. Tammy is the Christian paragon. If you haven't seen The Eyes of Tammy Faye, drive don't run to rent it. I remember growing up with 700 Club and PTL network wafting incessantly through the house. I remember being creeped out by all the crying. I never could've imagined what kind of woman Tammy would become, and I admire her so deeply. Tammy, you are one of my personal heroes, and I love you with all my heart. If there is a Christian, you are she.

I saw the documentary again Monday (?) night on logo at a friend's house. I think it's one of the most important of our time. She's the only televangelist I can name that I would also say is a decent person. I grew up with PTL too, and her crying didn't bother me. [I've always wanted a large household (a clown household) with at least one sentimental matriarch who dispensed tears of joy and compassion.] Her only mistake was marrying a man who thought that a colossal amusement park was a worthy Christian undertaking. Her only flaw was never questioning the men in her life. AND BTW >>> Tammy Faye on Ativan is screamingly in need of a drag queen!

The perspective as I age is a fightening thing. I too remember her tarantula eyes wiggling at me, wet ringed with tears when I was a child. Having been fortunate enough to have seen the drag-u-mentary it's strange to no longer be sickened by by her parade on the tube, now I'm sickened by what a shit of a man did to her as a partner. Seeing her tranform into something new inspite of her god-freak status that will not die, is humbling. Rupaul as the narrator was genius.

I saw The Eyes Of Tammy Faye a couple of years ago and it completely changed the way I thought about her. I realized just how amazing she was. Also, when she was on the Surreal World, I was so impressed by how cool she is with gays and lesbians (and drag queens!) Yeah, Tammy is the best.

I grew up with Pat Robertson and Ben Kinchloe (sp?). I'm still recovering.

She is great, isn't she?

you guys know, right, she's literally on death's doorstep from cancer that mets to lungs. she's full of cancer right now. remember when she refused chemo after her first surgery a couple of years ago? wrong choice, and I wrote her about it, told her to make a public example of herself to teach compliance with dr's orders for cancer.
