Look Out Google

Fierce competition looms on the search engine horizon. I just tried Microsoft's new search engine, live.com, and I WAS BLOWN AWAY by the results (but the layout and scrollbar need work). You should check it out, I'd love to hear if anyone else is as impressed as I am.

I can't get the front page to open no matter which browser I use. As a matter of fact, Explorer loads less than the other!

I gues I'm not impressed...

gosh, Spencer, it breaks my heart to see so many things stolen from the Mac OS X interface. I'm an Apple guy at heart :)

There used to the this joke...if you want to see what Microsoft will be doing tomorrow, look at what Apple is doing today.

But I digress :) You're right, compared to other search engines, it's very cool. I like the concept of integrating more Web 2.0 into search engines. Thanks for sharing it with everyone, and thanks for stopping by my blog, Miss Marple :D

Doesn't load for me, either.

Nathan, MS doesn't steal Apple's stuff...they just imitate very very poorly. :)

You know.. with all this talk about stealing... historically (in the context of computer development), everyone stole from XEROX.
Apple MacIntosh stole the graphical icons idea from Xerox, and windows stole that idea from Apple and dramatically improved it to create Windows.

Now, ofcourse, I would agree that Apple has been far better in its OS interfaces than Microsoft... and Windows is desperately trying to catch up.

I got mixed feelings.

I like the interface, but the search results werent my favorite. When I search my own name "Aaron Kinney" in Google, it gives my blog Kill The Afterlife as the top result.

But with LIVE, it gives my blogger profile ast he first result, with some stupid christian and his blog as third result, and my own blog as a 4th result. I know for a fact that my blog gets more hits than my blogger profile and that dumb Christian with the same name as mine.

Oh well. Its just a beta. hopefully itll improve. I do love Micro$soft!! (and I put that dollar sign in there as a compliment, not an insult. Seriously).

the only reason why search.live seems to have more relevant results for some search terms is that the spammers haven't yet figured out their system. if and when ms search gets more relevant in the marketplace, their results will suck just as google's...

and their UI is shitty.
