If Bill Clinton would have hired this UAE company the Democrats would have hailed it as visionary humanitarianism and the Neocons would have wailed "treason!" in the aisles. I wouldn't care what the Democrats do, except that they're the only ones out there opposing the Republicans. Not that I care a whit one way or the other about this port issue, but anything that weakens my enemy brings to me a certain delight. The White House was caught unawares and everyone is mad at them for the exact things we've been screaming about for 5 years.

My only issue with the the UAE ports deal is that the Whitehouse is utterly hypocritical.
First they claim they need to wiretap all suspected individuals, then they go and give port deals to a state-owned company of the UAE.
You just know that pockets were lined with cash over the UAE deal and that's why it was going to go through.

When I am President in a few years, if I am faced with a Republican controlled Congress, I'm going to try coming out in opposition against a bill I actually support so that the Republicans all line up behind it and then I'll just sign the fucker. Of course, I'll have to do that during my second term, otherwise my flip-flopping will sink my re-election chances.
