A Tennyson Tuesday

As when with downcast eyes we muse and brood,
And ebb into a former life, or seem
To lapse far back in a confused dream
To states of mystical similitude;
If one but speaks or hems or stirs his chair,
Ever the wonder waxeth more and more,
So that we say ‘All this hath been before,
All this hath been, I know not when or where.’
So, friend, when first I look’d upon your face,
Our thought gave answer, each to each, so true,
Opposed mirrors each reflecting each—
Altho’ I knew not in what time or place,
Methought that I had often met with you,

And each had lived in the other’s mind and speech.

Hey, say something funny!
Isn't that the pick-up line you are supposed to use on comedians?
or maybe: "you're funny....lookin!"

This is my first visit and I have been reading back a bit. I am thoroughly enjoying my visit.

In light of the recent events that I have read I was compelled to share this with you; not that Tennyson isn't wonderful, he truly is, but these I felt particularly meaningful in accordance with what I hear you expressing.

My hands
open the curtains of your being
clothe you in a further nudity
uncover the bodies of your body
My hands
invent another body for your body

Touch - Octavio Paz

Uninvited, the thought of you stayed too late in my head,
so I went to bed, dreaming you hard, hard, woke with your name, like tears, soft, salt, on my lips, the sound of its bright syllables like a charm, like a spell.

You - Carol Ann Duffy

I hope I am not too far off-base or that perhaps I am mis-reading. If so I will go back and read again. This is after all a first introduction and I may well be mistaken.

This sounds like the beginning of a lovely journey. The slow revealing of another and, as such, a revealing of self also. I'm hoping this goes magnificently.
