Signed, Sealed, & Shitting Bricks

I had breakfast with one of my lawyers, then met at the theatre, where I signed the contract. There will be a press release Monday when tickets go on sale, and a full page ad in Gay Chicago this Tuesday. My publicist is freaking out about the blogs. She worked for Warner Bros. when I was there in the nineties, and she's really excellent, so it's hard to argue with her (right M?). I thought moving this blog would be enough separation, but there may be alterations (read "deletions") forthcoming. Ugh. Exhilaration and terror are very similar emotions. I already have knots in my stomach. Oy. Will post all the press as it is released.

Out of curiosity: what is the big deal?

publicity is about 'controlling image', it's hard to control my mouth on a daily basis... and she's concerned about things like "puberty makes kids sexy", and other edgy stuff sitting out here in print where really bored self-righteous fags (who haven't taken their medicine) have nothing better to do than engage (read: "excoriate") my retarded ass. publicists are paid (well) to sculpt positive images of their clients in the press (cause that sells more tix), and they work to avoid 'negative' press re same... which means it makes a publicist a little crazy when all the negative images of their client... are published by their client. She doesn't like me calling myself a crackhead, lol, and she feels similar to lily about me calling people morons (yikes). She thinks i should be nice to everyone. Maybe she's right. I make the ultimate decision of course... but i don't think i'll ever be able to sugarcoat anything. BARF. I'd rather say nothing than stop calling people morons. I must fast and pray about it... i have till the ad campaign tuesday....

Does Madame de la Publicité realize that I and many others will be purchasing tickets because of the blog?

Todd-- you and chiron with that fancy french... i wish i could speak frog too... Spent the morning in lake forest at breakfast on this issue... the blog stays the way it is now...and stays in the same place... and tuesday, when the ad hits gay chicago mag i start "comment moderation", so the ad dollars don't go 2 subsidize an open forum on my narcissism. from tuesday forward any of my old bosses or old tricks who want to tell the world how evil i am will have to do it on their own blogs and with their own bucks. but I'M not shutting up... would that be possible anyway? i don't think so. who cares if republicans come to my show. RIGHT MARK!?
