One Month in the Slammer.

Hallelujah - One month without cigs, and my stomach is as flat as a board. I am unspeakably grateful for all the mail - letter, notes, props, etc. And many thanks for the books. This place is conducive to intense focus - and I have reached a clip of about 800 pages per day. I was hauled into court yesterday. My lawyer said a bunch of stuff I didn't understand ( I only paralegaled for civil firm/cases), then I was redeposited in my cage. The short of it - Should be sprung by Christmas. Special thanks to those bloggers in my roll who printed and mailed their blogs - Fanastic. Please tell every bibliophile you know to drop an old paperback (and or magazine) in the mail. They cut the covers off hardbacks! And call me a criminal. So soft, used paperbacks are best - anything civilized and juicy, esp. old New Yorkers. Limit 3 items per package and no return address necessary. My address is below. I'll post as whatnot develops - I have to mail these postings out. Keep that mail, coming - I love it. XO

Lord has managed to get two messages posted on his blog. If he wanted the reason why he is there for all to read, he would have posted it by now. I shouldn't speak for his friends, but it's not their place to post the reason. If you really want or have to know, then you can do a little digging around the net and find out for yourself.

I think it is sad that anyone feels bad enough to support someone arrested for drug possession. And he must be pretty damn guilty to not get out until Christmas. What a sad person who appears to be so smart.....but is not. Drugs almost ripped my family apart. You have definitely lost this reader. I for one intend to reserve judgment until I hear all the facts. If I turned my back on everyone who has done something stupid then there would be NOBODY in my life.

To Anonymous - Apparently you needed to know so badly and then chose to judge. How well do you know him? If you knew him like I did, then you would know that he is one of the kindest, smartest, most non-judgmental people I have ever met. What happened to your family is sad I am sure, but does not give you the right to judge others so harshly. In fact, it should give you some empathy.

I have to agree with Sweetness and Mark here. I have yet to hear all the facts so I'm not going to judge until I hear what has truly occurred.

I have been on a jury where a woman was charged with possession of Methamphetimine. It was in her car and she was pulled over with it inside the vehicle! She pleaded not guilty because she said the guy she was with jumped out of the car and ran away before the cop pulled her over. Her vehicle was out of the sight of the police for 30 seconds. That was plenty of time for the guy to jump out of the car and hide. So we found her not guilty because there was lack of proof that the drugs were actually hers.

I haven't met Spencer. But I truly hope for his sake he is found NOT Guilty for whatever the case may be.

I was asked to publish this for Spencer:

"I have received: David Copperfield; 100 Years of Solitude (clever!); Jekyl & Hyde; Jane Eyre; 1776; The Children of Men; Merchant of Venice; Richard III; The Glass Bead Game; The Sound and the Fury; Metropolitan Life; Holidays in Hell (clever); Sense and Sensibility; Guns, Germs & Stell; Walden; Civil Disobedience (Oh Yeah!); Nabakov Shorts; Sarcaso Sea; Great Expectations (Enough Dickens now); Unquiet Soul; Myths of Power; Portrait of a Lady; Requiem for a Nun; A Separate Peace; To Kill a Mockingbird; The Firm; Five Patients.

Does anyone have an extra Webster-Collegiate Dictionary? If so, could they cut the cover (if Hardback) off & send this way?"
